Mice aren’t welcome in your hive; keep them out with this 1/2 inch mesh. Plenty of room for bees to enter and exit, but no room for visitors.
Mouse guards are stapled to the front of the hive covering the entrance. Alternatively, it can be folded into a long "V" and the partially folded mesh is pressed into the entrance fold first.
When Do I Need to Protect my Hive?
A beehive is a warm and dry place and is attractive to mice for winter lodging. During the warm months, bees are guarding the entrance of the hive and mice do not enter. As the weather cools bees start to cluster and the entrance area is not guarded. Mice will move in and build nests causing extensive damage to frames and comb.
