Successful queen introduction can be difficult. The push-in cage is the gold standard for queen introduction and allows the new queen to start laying eggs before she is released. Queens laying eggs have higher pheromone levels and are welcomed by the receiving colony. The queen is confined on an area of comb with nectar and emerging brood by pushing the cage into the comb. The queen is released 4 days later by removing the cage. Our Betterbee queen muff works well for installing the queen onto a brood comb without the fear of losing her.
