In this hands-on soap making class for beginners, expert soapmakers from Saratoga Natural Body Care will teach you how to safely make your own batch of natural, hot process soap from scratch using products of the hive--beeswax and honey--along with other natural ingredients.
In this class, you will learn the benefits of handmade soap, how the oils used to make the soap are good for your skin, and the safety practices required to manufacture soap. You will then make your own soap using sodium hydroxide with the hot process method. Finally you will learn how to customize your soaps with colors, fragrances and/or essential oils, creating beautiful soaps using colloidal oatmeal, rose buds, calendula flowers and making fabulous swirl patterns.
You will keep the soap you make! Each student will make approximately 7 bars (2lbs) of beautiful handcrafted soap. The soap will stay with us overnight, then we will unmold it, cut into bars and have it ready for a pickup the next day.
This class is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26 here at Betterbee and will run from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. Finished soaps will be available for pick up at the store on Wednesday, February 27 anytime after noon. Class is limited to 10 participants.
Additional classes may be added. Check our website periodically or give us a call!
