You should feed your bees in the Spring and in the Fall. In the Spring you should feed a 1:1 ratio of sugar to water, that is 1 cup of sugar to 1 cup of water. In the Fall however, you should use a 2:1 ratio, being 2 cups of sugar, to 1 cup of water. The later used as a feeding substitute for the winter and the former as a feeding stimulant in the spring.  Never feed your bees on a honey flow, when you plan on using supers to gather honey.  You'll end up with sugar water in the frames of the honey supers, which doesn't make an appealing honey harvest.
