Nothing beats baling twine in your smoker for a cool and long lasting smoke. Our rolls of untreated sisal twine are light brown and approx. 1,400 feet long (comes as a 10 lb. roll). Just unravel and cut off enough to stuff your smoker full.
Hint: An easy way to light your smoker is to place crumpled newspaper in the bottom of the smoker, light it, and then place your fuel over the top of it and repeatedly compress the smoker bellows.
Did you know? One used to be able to get an unlimited amount of untreated baling twine for free from farmers. Unfortunately, many of the farmers use a sisal twine treated with a rodentcide to discourage mice from chewing on it or they use a polypropylene twine. You can tell treated twine because it is colored green or orange. Even though dairy farmers would love to give it to you, it's probably not the best idea to smoke your bees with it.
