Apistan Strips have been the medicine of choice in the U.S. for the treatment of Varroa Mites for over 20 years. EPA approved and safe to use with proper handling by following all label instructions, Apistan has been an important tool in the war against Varroa destructor. Unfortunately, because of its misuse by many beekeepers (leaving the strips in too long and feeding the liquid form of the chemical), many beekeepers are finding that the mites have developed a resistance to Apistan. Follow all label instructions.
How to use: Suspend 2 strips per hive between the frames in the brood chamber. To achieve maximum effectiveness in the North, we suggest placing Apistan strips in the hive immediately after the September honey harvest and leaving them there for 45 days.
Important: When using the “Ether Roll” or Sugar Shake” test, you should figure you have twice as many mites as you actually find. For example: if you discover 2 mites in 100 bees, you should double that number to 4 mites (or 4% infestation.) If you find an infestation rate of 10% or above, treatment should start immediately.
Are you a commercial beekeeper and need a larger quantity? Apistan is also available in a box of 100 - AP2
