A beehive is a warm and dry place and is attractive to mice for winter lodging. During the warm months bees are guarding the entrance of the hive and mice do not enter. As the weather cools bees start to cluster and the entrance area is not guarded. Mice will move in and build nests causing extensive damage to frames and comb. The1/2 inch mesh gives bees plenty of room to enter and exit but will keep mice out. Mouseguard is stapled to the front of the hive covering the entrance. Alternately it can be folded into a long "V" and the partially folded mesh is pressed into the entrance fold first. The mouse guards are shipped flat but can be readily folded if desired. Photographs illustrate use flat as well as folded and pressed into the entrance.
