This foundation is designed to be used as part of an Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) for combatting Varroa Mites. Unwired Drone Foundation has a larger hexagon imprinted in the sheet on which the bees will build only drone comb. Varroa Mites prefer drone brood over worker brood. By "seeding" one's hive body with a drone comb frame, one can physically remove a great many mites.
