Unassembled Hive Body - Select Grade

Select Grade: Only occasional small knots, compared with Commercial Grade, which may have a greater number of knots. Both are top quality and long-lasting.

Here in the North Country, a sturdy, good quality hive body is essential. Our hive bodies are constructed from 7/8" thick Eastern Pine (1/8" thicker than other companies). They make an excellent year-round home for you bees that is safe and secure. The extra 1/8" makes our hive bodies a warmer winter home for your bees as well.

An assembled hive body is  20” x 16-1/4” x 9-5/8”  (for 10 Frame Hives) or 20" long x 14" wide x 9 5/8" (for 8 Frame Hives). They come unassembled like this or fully assembled and ready to paint. Pre-drilled holes make assembling easy - you'll only need some nails and a hammer to assemble.

Note 1: Frames NOT included.

Note 2: Nails are not included with our unassembled supers or hive bodies. Many beekeepers use nail or staple guns for assembly.

Hint 1: Our hive bodies are interchangeable with all other American standard equipment, even though our hive bodies have thicker, stronger walls than what our competition offers.

Hint 2: The thicker wood also makes possible a deeper, easier to grip handhold. That means fewer accidents in the field when you’re wearing gloves
